Blacklists (2016...)

DIVINATION RITUALS FOR THE AGE OF INTERNET CENSORSHIP AND CONTENT RESTRICTIONS

[PROTOTYPE] Inspired by “forbidden libraries" also known as Index or Inferno, the Blacklists project is a directory of the forbidden Internet: a collection of restricted websites and keywords used for the automatic detection of traffic considered unsavory. Every minute, the system targets a random position located in extensive directories of sites used to restrict Internet access worldwide. This collection is deployed as a magic circle, a form used in pagan rituals of protection, intended to isolate and protect the protagonist from evil influences. Blacklists renders visible the contours of the dominant ideological model by exposing the countless, untold recesses of the Internet that should be hidden from view, i.e. content that may be dangerous for the very survival of the system.
